Football Overview

ABGC Bulldog Football

Welcome to Annandale (ABGC) Football!!

.

Started in 1959, Annandale Bulldogs Football is the oldest program in all ABGC programs. Our program has a long history and tradition of building champions between young men and women of character. Annandale is proud of its successful and historic football program with the Northern Virginia Youth Football League (NVYFL). This success is driven by the level of commitment and support delivered by our coaches, players, volunteers, and community that goes above and beyond the average youth program.

Football is open to children between the ages of 7 and 16, with each child being placed on a team according to age, weight and skill level. This ensures that each child has the opportunity to play with others of the same maturity and size so they could enjoy themselves and be successful. Each year practice starts in August with the season continuing into mid-November. Registration is from late May through early September. To register during this time period, go to the Home page, and at the top of the page click on “Register”.

Practice begins the first week of August all the way into the last week of October. Regular season games begin the 3rd Saturday of September. Home games are played at Annandale High School.

NVYFL Player Information

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A DMV ISSUED ID

Everyone participating in the Northern Virginia Youth Football League (NVYFL) must have a valid VA DMV ID card in hand for weigh-in.  No other form of ID is acceptable to NVYFL.  This means NVYFL will not accept birth certificates, military IDs, passports or any form of ID other than a VA DMV ID.

For our returning players this is a gentle reminder to check the expiration date on your current ID. Older versions of the ID expire after 5 years.  For our new players here is a link to the VA DMV website that explains how to obtain a VA DMV ID.

Due to security issues and COVID regulations, the VA DMV will be issuing IDs by appointment only.  These IDs are mailed to your home and the process can take up to 2 to 4 weeks. At time of Weigh-In, if you cannot obtain a VA DMV Issued ID, please have a School ID, Passport, or other Pictured ID, along with Parent or Guardian ID and utility bill showing proof of residency in Fairfax County.

All players must participate in an official weigh-in. The first weigh-in is free. Therefore we encourage all athletes to weigh-in the first week. After the first week, the weigh-in fee is $30.00. The third weigh-in option is $40. The very last official weigh-in is $60.00. Please be advised that all players are responsible for the weigh-in fees and are paid to the Northern Virginia Youth Football League, not ABGC.
