Week 7 results for the Cosmos...

Cosmos supporters,

We had a good match today vs the Martin Jaguars as both teams played well right from the start. The girls were a lil' apprehensive attacking during the 1st half, but we had some good defense from our fullbacks, sweeper & goal keepers to thwart any oncoming rushes from our opponents. We had good battles in the midfield and our opponents kept up solid pressure the entire 1st half. With about 8 minutes before the half, we finally had some good counter attacks and put some shots on goal that were well defended by our opponent's keeper. Again, the "just a bit outside" bug bit us as we pushed a handful of shots wide & failed to capitalize on some good opportunities during the 1st half. I was very proud of the girls when they came off the field at halftime, as they, not me or Coach Jay, started talking about how their opponent was being more aggressive and that really needed to change. I just smiled, added a few thoughts & knew that when a team starts to communicate this way, it is a very good sign. The girls came out the 2nd half, were the aggressors and really stepped up their game. I saw lots of communication and heads up dribbling that led to some fantastic passes which of course, led to goals. We started to control the pitch much better and used some great goal kicks to start some counter attacks that we just missed out on putting in the back of the net. In the end, we collected three goals for a hard fought 3-0 win. Thank you for supporting the Cosmos!
